Ji Young Noh Cello

Biography

Originally from Seoul, Jiyoung Noh began playing the cello at the age of 11. After training at the Sunhwa Arts High School (South Korea), in 2021 she joined Anne Gastinel's class at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse (CNSMD) in Lyon, where she obtained her Bachelor's degree. She then pursues a master's degree at the CNSMD de Paris with Michel Strauss and Marc Coppey. In 2024, she joined Michel Strauss's class at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague (Netherlands).

Winner of several competitions, she made her solo debut in 2016 with the Gyeongsangbuk-do Philharmonic Orchestra (South Korea). In 2019, she won second prize in the Busan MARU International Music Festival (BMIMF) competition.

She takes part in numerous festivals in Europe and abroad, including the Ravel Festival (2022), the Belgium Cello Society Festival (2022), and the PyeongChang Music Festival (2019). She also takes part in master classes with Edgar Moreau, Anne Gastinel, Xavier Phillips, Philippe Muller, Lluis Claret and Harro Ruijsenaars.

During the 2024/2025 season, she performs with the Sinfonia Rotterdam Orchestra as part of its internship program.

Jiyoung Noh joins the Académie de l'Opéra national de Paris in September 2025 as cellist-in-residence.
