Originally from New York, Ilanah Lobel-Torres earned her bachelor’s degree from the New England Conservatory and her master’s in vocal performance from the Mannes School of Music. Upon completing her master’s in 2019, she joined the Paris Opera Academy. As part of this programme, she has performed on the stages of the Opéra Bastille and the Palais Garnier, as well as on tour in Beirut, at La Grange au Lac in Évian, and at the Opéra de Dijon.
In September 2020, she was diagnosed with primary mediastinal B-cell lymphoma and underwent six cycles of chemotherapy. Six months after completing her treatment, she returned to Paris for the 2021-2022 season of the Paris Opera. She performed on the stage of La Grange au Lac as Ozia (La Giuditta) conducted by Thibault Noally and at the Dijon Opera as Costanza (L’isola disabitata) conducted by Faycal Karoui. She has also performed in concerts with the Academy and as a soloist in chamber music concert series with the Paris Opera Orchestra.
During the 2022-2023 season, Ilanah Lobel-Torres performed the role of Ozia at the Festival de la Chaise-Dieu and at the Sinfonia en Périgord Festival with Les Accents and Thibault Noally, made her debut at the Santa Fe Opera as the First Nymph (Rusalka) under the direction of Lidiya Yankovskaya, and as a cover for Proserpina (L’Orfeo) under the direction of Harry Bicket.
She has been a member of the Paris Opera Lyric Troupe since the 2023-2024 season.
