Biography

Born in Marseille, Hugo Mathieu graduated from Pierre Pradier’s class at the CNRR in 2012 which gave him the opportunity to perform the Piano Concerto n°3 by Beethoven with the Conservatory Orchestra conducted by Philip Bride. In 2013, he joined Johan Schmidt’s class at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels where he took part in many productions and festivals. 

He graduated in 2018 and entered the classes of Marc Pantillon, Béatrice Richoz and Todd Camburn at the HEMU of Lausanne. He graduated in 2020 as an accompanist. 

During his training in Lausanne, he established a partnership with the soprano Floriane Derthe under the Hekla Duet. Together they give concerts on stage and on the radio. They have participated in many competitions such as the French Melody Competition in Toulouse in 2019 where Hugo Mathieu was awarded the piano prize the international Melody Competition of Gordes. They were rewarded with the special prize of Lubéron music Festival. 

Hugo Mathieu joined the Paris Opera Academy on September 2021.
