Born in Chartres, France, Etienne Guiol is a painter and video designer. In 2006, he joined the School Émile Cohl in Lyon, where he focused on drawing and animation. Since 2012, he has been mainly working on animation for theatre, opera and also on urban video mapping.
With Arnaud Pottie, he co-founded the BK Digital Art Company studio in 2012, which focuses on projection mapping for giant buildings, video designing for live art performances, and worldwide artistic installations (Lyon, Paris, Versailles, Strasburg, Colmar, Rouen, Bucarest, Rome, Casablanca, Dubai, Jerusalem…).
His work took him to the greatest lyrical stages (Teatro alla Scala Milan, Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Paris Opera, and the Versailles, Athens, Karlsruhe, Basel, Geneva, Budapest, Mascate, Hong Kong opera houses).
He won several awards: Maria Republica, created at Angers Nantes Opéra, won Best Musical Creation in 2016, and The Golden Cockerel, based on Rimski-Korsakov, the critics' choice award for Best Scenic Designer in 2014.
