Éric Duranteau developed a passion for image projection as early as 1990. After taking part in numerous events at exceptional venues such as the Hôtel de Ville de Paris, the Château de Versailles, and the Château de Blois, he devoted himself to live performance and worked, among others, with Robert Carsen, Carolyn Carlson, Bartabas, Philippe Manoury, Nicolas Brieger, and Emmanuelle Bastet.
In 1997, he began a rich collaboration with Yannis Kokkos, marked by productions of Hänsel and Gretel, Outis by Berio, and Les Troyens at the Théâtre du Châtelet; Götterdämmerung, Iphigénie en Aulide, and Lucia di Lammermoor in Milan; The Flying Dutchman in Bologna; Die Vögel by Braunfels and The Excursions of Mr. Brouček in Geneva; Die Frau ohne Schatten in Florence; Don Quixote and Samson and Delilah in Saint Petersburg; The Flying Dutchman in Athens; The Nightingale, Iolanta, and William Tell in Tokyo; and Tristan and Isolde and The Rape of Lucretia in Bari.
After Entr’aperçu at the Théâtre du Châtelet, for which he designed the scenography, he developed strong ties with Japanese culture. In 2006, he was awarded a residency at the Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto. Since 2013, he has also been involved in numerous international exhibitions.
