Eliza Boom Soprano

Biography

After studying in her home country, New Zealand, Eliza Boom completed her training at the National Opera Studio in London and the Royal Northern College of Music. She won several international competitions, including the Stanisław Moniuszko Vocal Competition (2022) and the Joan Sutherland and Richard Bonynge Bel Canto Award (2019). In 2020, she joined the Bayerische Staatsoper’s Opera Studio in Munich, where she performed various roles: Woglinde (Das Rheingold), The First Lady (The Magic Flute), High Priestess (Aida) and Berta (The Barber of Seville).

These past two seasons, she made her Stuttgart Staatsoper in the roles of Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), Pat Nixon (Nixon in China), Woglinde (Das Rheingold and Götterdämmerung), at the Royal Danish Opera as Vitellia (La clemenza di Tito), at the Hanover State Opera as Pat Nixon et and Karlsruhe Staatstheate as Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte). She returned at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich as a guest artist.

Her repertoire also includes the roles of Donna Anna (Don Giovanni, Clonter Opera), Micäela (Carmen, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich), Nella (Gianni Schicchi), the title-role in Suor Angelica and Noémie (Cendrillon, Royal Northern College of Music), The Countess (Le Nozze di Figaro, Waikato University).

Eliza Boom is also active on the concert platform, with orchestras including the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, Badische Staatskapelle, New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Nottingham Philharmonic Orchestra and Suffolk Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2022, she was the soloist for the world premiere of Buch der Körper, a composition for soprano and ensemble by Žuraj, under the baton of Vladimir Jurowski.
