Biography

Ekaterina Gubanova studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow and the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. She performs regularly on the world's greatest opera stages, including New York's Metropolitan Opera, Milan's La Scala, London's Royal Opera House, Vienna's Staatsoper, Munich's Bayerische Staatsoper, Berlin's Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Madrid's Teatro Real, the Opéra national de Paris and the Bayreuth Festival. Her debut as Kundry (Parsifal) in Vienna was the highlight of her career.

One of her most important roles is Brangäne (Tristan and Isolde), but her repertoire also includes Mère Marie (Dialogues des carmélites), Fricka (L'Or du Rhin and La Walkyrie), Waltraute (Le Crépuscule des dieux), Princess Eboli (Don Carlo), Amneris (Aida), Adalgisa (Norma), Judith (Bluebeard's Castle), Venus (Tannhäuser), Marguerite (The Damnation of Faust), Ortrud (Lohengrin) and the Foreign Princess (Rusalka), to name but a few. Ekaterina Gubanova also performs in concert.

She works regularly with conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Daniel Barenboim, Sir Simon Rattle, Kent Nagano, Semyon Bychkov, Philippe Jordan and Nathalie Stutzmann.
