Biography

Slovak-American pianist and répétiteur Christopher Vazan graduated from Philips Exeter Academy in 2016, having begun studying conducting with James Ross at the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America in 2015. Afterwards, he matriculated at the Vienna Musikuniversität, where he studied piano with Barbara Moser and orchestral conducting with Mark Stringer. 

Répétiteur at the Mediterranean Opera Studio and Festival in 2017 in Caltagirone for productions of The Barber of Seville, Tosca, La Bohème and Così fan tutte, he assisted conductor Gregory Buchalter. At the Georg Solti Accademia in 2018, he worked with artists such as Barbara Frittoli and Richard Bonynge. Christopher Vazan has performed as a piano soloist in New York (Merkin Concert Hall), but also in major auditoriums in China, Italy, Austria and Slovakia. 

He won the First Prize of the Orfeo International Musical Competition 2013 in Vipiteno. In 2019, he participated in the conducting masterclass of Christian Thielemann at the Bayreuth Festival. In January 2020, he was the first laureate of the Prix des Musiciens of the Fondation SIGNATURE — Institut de France. 

Christopher Vazan joined the Paris Opera Academy in September 2019.
