Biography

Christophe Mortagne studied at the Paris Conservatoire. He performs on the leading international stages: Metropolitan Opera New York, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona, Paris Opera, the Lyon, Bordeaux, Lille Opera Houses… He has sung with major conductors including Fabio Luisi, Marc Minkowski and Antonio Pappano. 

Recent highlights include Spalazoni (The Tales of Hoffmann) at the Opéra national de Bordeaux, the Baden-Baden Festival and Royal Opera House Covent Garden, King Bobêche (Barbe-Bleue) at Opéra de Lille and Opéra national de Lyon, the title-role in Roi Carotte at Opéra national de Lyon, Doctor Caïus (Falstaff) at Teatro Real Madrid, Goro (Madama Butterfly) at Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona, Monsieur Triquet (Eugene Onegin) at the Canadian Opera Company and Covent Garden, Aegisthus (Elektra) at Opéra national de Bordeaux, the Four Valets (The Tales of Hoffmann) at Metropolitan Opera New York and Opéra national de Lyon, King Ouf 1st (L’Étoile) at Covent Garden, Dutch National Opera and Frankfurt Opera, Guillot de Morfontaine (Manon) at Metropolitan Opera New York, Teatro alla Scala, and Covent Garden, Miro (Die Fledermaus) at the Opéra Comique. 

Last season, he performed Don Curzio (Le Nozze di Figaro) at the Paris Opera and Teatro Real Madrid. The 2022/23 season will see him as Monsieur Triquet at La Monnaie in Brussels, and Schmidt (Werther) at Covent Garden.
