Blake Denson is a graduate of the Houston Grand Opera Studio, Rice University (Texas), and the University of Kentucky. He has received the Richard Tucker–Sarah Tucker Scholarship, awards from the George London Foundation, first prize at the 59th Viñas International Competition, and the Dallas Opera Vocal Competition. He was also a grand finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in 2020.
In recent seasons, he has performed roles including Ford (Falstaff) in Houston, Donner (Das Rheingold) at English National Opera, Angelotti (Tosca) and Plutone (L’Orfeo) in Santa Fe, Moralès (Carmen) in Hamburg, Schaunard (La Bohème) in Washington, and Prince Yamadori (Madama Butterfly), the Pastor / Kaboom (Fire Shut Up in My Bones), and the Count of Monterone (Rigoletto) in New York.
He has also performed Mahler’s Songs of a Wayfarer with the Paducah Symphony Orchestra (Kentucky) and appeared in concert alongside Lisette Oropesa at the New Orleans Opera. In the 2025–2026 season, his engagements include Crown (Porgy and Bess) in Houston and Ford (Falstaff) in Pittsburgh.
