Blake Denson graduated from the Houston Grand Opera’s Studio Opera, the Rice University (Texas), and the University of Kentucky. His awards include Winner of the Richard Tucker-Sarah Tucker’s scholarship, the George London Foundation, the 59th International Concurs Tenor Viñas Competition, and the Dallas Opera Singing Competition. He was also a Grand Finalist winner of the 2020 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, performing with Bertrand de Billy and the New York Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.
In the 2022/23 season, Blake Denson made his debut in Germany as Larkens (La fanciulla del West) at Munich Bayerische Staatsoper, and as Morales (Carmen) at Hamburg Staatsoper. He also made his English National Opera debut as Donner (Das Rheingold) and at Santa Fe Opera as Angelotti (Tosca) and Plutone (L’Orfeo).
He was also Schaunard (La Bohème) at Washington National Opera. His concert performances include Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen with Paducah Symphony Orchestra (Kentucky). In the 2023/24 season, he returns to the Houston Grand Opera, where he makes his role debut as Ford (Falstaff), and then makes his New York Metropolitan Opera in the roles of Prince Yamadori (Madama Butterfly) and The Pastor / Kaboom (Fire Shut Up in My Bones). Concert appearances include a performance with Lisette Oropesa at the New Orleans Opera.
