Antti Tikkanen Violin

Biography

Antti Tikkanen performs as a soloist, in a chamber ensemble and at the opera with a vast repertoire of music that ranges from the baroque to the contemporary. He began studying the violin at the age of seven. His first teacher was Tomasz Orzech. He went on to study at the violin school in Khumo, then the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and then the Lyon Conservatoire with Pavel Vernikov. He has performed with Finland’s major symphonic orchestras (the Finnish Radio Symphony, the Tapiola Sinfonietta, the Helsinki Philharmonic) and he has appeared at numerous international festivals, both as a soloist and as part of a chamber ensemble. He plays a Stradivarius hat once belonged to the late conductor  Paavo Berglund and loaned to him by the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
