Andrew George Choreographer

Biography

Born in Wales, Andrew George was trained at the Laban Centre.

In the United States and in Canada, his choreographies for opera performances include: Agrippina, Adriana Lecouvreur, Giulio Cesare, Cavalleria rusticana, Pagliacci, Anna Bolena, Don Giovanni and Il Seraglio (Metropolitan Opera, New York), Macbeth, Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Giulio Cesare, Wozzeck and Rusalka (Lyric Opera, Chicago), Rusalka (Canadian Opera Company), Rusalka and Andrea Chénier (San Francisco Opera), Falstaff (Santa Fe Opera) and Carmen (Dallas Opera).

His European projects include: Andrea Chénier, Les Troyens, Adriana Lecouvreur and Salomé (Royal Opera House Covent Garden), The Turn of the Screw, Agrippina, The Handmaid’s Tale and Die Walküre (English National Opera), Il Seraglio, Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Giulio Cesare and Carmen (Glyndebourne Festival), Falstaff, Der Rosenkavalier, The Rake’s Progress and La Traviata f(Scottish Opera), Eine kleine Nachtmusik (Théâtre du Châtelet), Tristan und Isolde (Vienna Staatsoper), Don Carlos (Frankfurt Opera and Teatro Real Madrid), L'incoronazione di Poppea (Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Berlin, Brussels and Copenhagen), The Tales of Hoffmann (Salzburg Festival), Tannhäuser (Teatro alla Scala, Milan) and the Ring (Opéra national du Rhin).

Other projects include Don Giovanni for Opera Australia and Tristan und Isolde for the New Theatre of Tokyo. Future engagements include La Traviata at the Scottish Opera, Giulio Cesare in Glyndebourne and a new Ring Cycle for the Teatro alla Scala in Milan.
