Biography

Andreas Conrad is a familiar figure on the international stage. His recent appearances include the Paris Opera (Monostatos in Robert Carsen's production of The Magic Flute under the baton of Henrik Nanasi in January / February 2017), the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the New National Theatre in Tokyo, the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, the Staatsoper in Vienna, the Grand Théâtre in Geneva, and the Salzburg Festival. He has worked with many renowned conductors and directors including Philippe Jordan, Fabio Luisi, Christian Thielemann, Calixto Bieito, Christof Loy, and Vincent Boussard. He has performed the role of Cerevin in the Patrice Chéreau production of From the House of the Dead since its premiere in Vienna in 2007 (at New York’s Metropolitan Opera and Milan’s La Scala among others). In June 2017, he played Mime in Götz Friedrich's production of Siegfried under the baton of Taijiro Iimori at the New National Theatre in Tokyo (where he also sang the role of Mime in Rheingold in 2015). He then performed the same roles (in Rheingold and Siegfried) at the Bayreuth Festival (Franz Castorf / Marek Janowski). More recently, he played Alviano Salvago in Schreker’s Die Gezeichneiten in Saint Gallen.

Projects: the roles of Olim and the Lottery Agent in Kurt Weill’s Silbersee in Warsaw (April 2018), and the world premiere production of Peter Ruzicka’s Benjamin at the Staatsoper in Hamburg (juin).
