Adriana Bignagni Lesca Mezzo-soprano

Biography

Born in Libreville, Gabon, Adriana Bignagni Lesca studied at the Bordeaux Conservatoire with Maryse Castets. Highlights of her recent seasons include the roles of Zefka (Le Journal d'un disparu) at Opéra national du Rhin, Brambilla (La Périchole) with Les Musiciens du Louvre and Marc Minkowski at the Salzburg Easter Festival and on tour in Montpellier, Bordeaux, Grenoble and Versailles, Fatouma (Mârouf, Savetier du Caire) at Opéra national de Bordeaux and Opéra Comique, Rossweisse (La Walkyrie) in Bordeaux, Arbate (Mitridate, re di Ponto) at Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin and Dorotea Frescopane (Viva la mamma) at Opernhaus Zurich.

In concert, she has sung Porgy and Bess with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra and given several recitals at the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence. More recently, she made her debut at Barcelona's Gran Teatre del Liceu in the European premiere of John Adams' Antony and Cleopatra, and sang the roles of Arbate at Berlin's Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Ježibaba (Rusalka) at the Tenerife Opera and Souffrance (Albéric Magnard's Guercœur) at the Opéra national du Rhin.

Concert appearances include Juno (Orphée aux Enfers) with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester and Marc Minkowski, and a New Year's concert featuring Montsalvatge's Cinco canciones negras at the Philharmonie Zuidnederland. In the 2024-2025 season, she makes her debut at the Hamburg Staatsoper as Farnace (Mitridate, re di Ponto) and returns to the Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse as Opinion publique (Orphée aux Enfers).
