Born in Romania, Adela Zaharia won the Grand Prize at the Hariclea Darclée Competition in 2012 and First Prize at the Operalia Plácido Domingo Competition in 2017. After her debut with the ensembles of the Komische Oper Berlin and the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, she was invited to the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona to perform Pamina (The Magic Flute). Her repertoire includes, among others, Violetta (La Traviata), the title role in Maria Stuarda, Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Gilda (Rigoletto), and Elvira (I Puritani) at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein; the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor in Munich; Gilda and Violetta in Los Angeles; Donna Anna in Madrid, London, and San Francisco; the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor at the Deutsche Oper Berlin; and Konstanze in Hamburg.
Last season, she performed the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor and Donna Anna in Vienna, Gilda in San Francisco, Konstanze at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin, and Violetta at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and in Dresden. During the 2026–2027 season, she makes her debut at La Scala in Milan as Donna Anna and later Elvira, and sings Leïla (Les Pêcheurs de perles) at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin.
