The program
Teaching teams contribute to students’ success by developing programs with an artistic and cultural focus, connected to the Opera.
For more than thirty years, Dix Mois d’École et d’Opéra has aimed to promote equal opportunities and academic success for students in priority education networks. This historic partnership with the Rectorates of Paris and Versailles is expanding to Corsica, Centre-Val de Loire, Normandy, and Orléans-Tours.
In collaboration with the educational teams of each institution, the Paris National Opera engages in innovative pedagogical approaches, reaching over 1,100 students each season, from kindergarten to vocational high school.
Experiencing a performance is the first step in understanding the history and heritage of the Paris National Opera. Each season, students attend rehearsals and performances of ballets and operas at the Palais Garnier and the Opéra Bastille. This encounter with works at various stages of creation allows students to develop their perspective as spectators and to acquire new knowledge.
Visits to the theaters of the Paris National Opera enable students to explore and familiarize themselves with the stages of the Palais Garnier and Opéra Bastille, as well as the backstage areas and workshops.
Meeting professionals from the Paris National Opera, either at the theaters or in classrooms, is a pivotal moment in students’ journeys, inspiring dreams and nurturing vocations, making the Opera a possible future.
Each year, two classes—one from the Versailles academy and one from the Paris academy—are selected to participate in this program. Artists lead workshops for the students during school hours throughout the year, with three hours per week, based on the belief that intensive artistic practice can be a key factor in academic success.
The “Performance” classes meet at the Opera for immersion days to create a performance that is presented in the Amphitheater of the Opéra Bastille in June.
Vocational high school classes specializing in costumes, hairstyling, and makeup also take part in the creation of the performance.
Teaching teams from schools under the Versailles and Paris Rectorates who wish to join the Dix Mois d’École et d’Opéra program can complete the application form via the ADAGE platform in spring 2026. Liaison teachers are available to provide any details about the program content (contacts below).
