Family at the Opera

Welcoming families throughout the season and introducing new audiences to the world of the Opera

For several years, the Opera has offered family-friendly programs to remove the barrier of ticket costs, allow parents to share their passion with their children, and introduce first-time visitors to the institution—both its performances and its heritage, backstage areas, and professions—through meetings with the Opera’s professionals.

Recent developments

During the 2024/2025 season, four performances were offered as part of the “My First Time at the Opera” event—a full-day program of guidance and educational activities designed to introduce participants to the world of the Opera—twice as many as in the 22/23 and 23/24 seasons, and four times more than in 21/22. This expansion not only allows a greater variety of performances to be presented to families, but also, for the first time, includes a performance at the Palais Garnier with the ballet Play.
The Family Card, whose price had already been reduced from €50 to €30 in 2023/2024, has expanded its benefits. It now offers a 50% discount on children’s tickets (ages 5 to 18) for all performances of the season, rather than only on selected dates.

Did you know?

Art workshops are offered to families in connection with the main public and Young Audience programming of the Academy, such as the “The Artist, My Parents and Me” workshops, which allow families to explore dance or singing in a playful way with the Opera’s resident artists. In 2024, eight workshops were organized.
