In collaboration with the association Accès Culture, the Opera offers the visually impaired the opportunity to attend certain productions with audio description. A special headset with information about the performance is provided free of charge on the days of the performances. A 30% reduction is granted to visually impaired spectators and an accompanying person.
The Paris Opera has introduced "Relax" performances. They offer an inclusive, supportive welcome service designed to facilitate attendance for people with disabilities (autism, multiple disabilities, mental disabilities, Alzheimer's disease, etc.) that may lead to atypical and unpredictable behaviour during the performance. The audience and the performers are informed and the usual codes are relaxed so that everyone may enjoy the performance and experience their emotions without fear of the gaze of others.
