Born from the realms of opera and Lied, a cast of mournful, dejected, despondent characters wander in painful solitude. Their common affliction: the scars of love. They summon tragic heroes and living souls from the world of theatre and music as a remedy for the melancholy that consumes them. Like Phaedra, their pain “originates from afar”. Two essays by Roland Barthes, Fragments d’un discours amoureux and Journal de Deuil constitute the dramatic base and cornerstone of the performance.
