Synopsis
On the programme: Ravel’s Five Popular Greek Melodies, Debussy’s Three Songs of Bilitis as well as pieces rarely performed outside of Spain, including the Six Castillian Folksongs by Jesús Guridi. Rooted in popular culture, these songs—erotic miniatures in their own right—use rhythms and colour to express the languid sensuality of love.
