Yvonne Gebauer Dramatist

Biography

Born in Berlin in 1972, Yvonne Gebauer studied German literature, philosophy and religion at the Free University of Berlin. She has been working since 1998 as an opera and theatre dramaturg.

She has been collaborating for many years with Hans Neuenfels and is also very close to Claus Guth, Christof Loy and Nadja Loschky. Other directors she has worked with include Kazuko Watanabe, Johan Simons, Amélie Niermeyer, Frank Hilbrich, Ben Frost, Tobias Kratzer and David Hermann.

She has taught dramaturgy in the costumes class of Reinhard von der Thannen at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, in the design class of Erich Wonder at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, in the directing class of Amélie Niermeyer at the Mozarteum University of Salzburg, and in the design class of Stefan Hageneier both at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music Berlin and at the Weißensee Academy of Art Berlin. From 2001 to 2008, she worked as a freelance journalist for the Süddeutsche Zeitung daily magazin. From 2009 to 2018, she was dramaturg at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich.
