Trained in literature, dramatic arts, and opera singing, Yves Lenoir is an opera director and librettist. In theater, he explores the relationship between text, voice, and musicality in La Jeune Fille et la Mort (after Nicolas Genka), Stabat Mater Furiosa by Jean-Pierre Siméon, and Dans la nuit la plus claire jamais rêvée, based on texts by Philippe Jaccottet. He has worked as an assistant director at various opera houses, including the Dutch National Opera, the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Teatro Real Madrid, and the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires.
From 2017 to 2024, he was assistant director at the Paris Opera, collaborating with directors such as Robert Wilson, Willy Decker, Claus Guth, Stefan Herheim, Barrie Kosky, Calixto Bieito, Ivo van Hove, and Romeo Castellucci. At the same time, he directed L’Orfeo and Jenůfa at the Opera de Dijon, as well as Jeanne d’Arc, Les Capulet et les Montaigu, Nabucco, and Macbeth at the TOBS in Biel. He is currently developing an opera-serial project presented in episodes, which reimagines the repertoire from the perspective of male figures.
Debut at the Paris Opera.
