Biography
Belizean-American composer, sound artist, and multidisciplinary creator Philip Patrick Harper Bucknor, known as Tru, is based in Los Angeles. His work spans contemporary composition, film, dance, installation art, and experimental sound practice. Drawing on diasporic rhythms, orchestral minimalism, electronic textures, and African American sonic traditions, Tru creates emotionally resonant works that bridge institutional performance spaces and contemporary culture.
His music has been featured by institutions and productions including the Whitney Museum, Ballet BC, Nederlands Dans Theater, the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance, LA Dance Project, DreamWorks Animation, Netflix, and the Directors Guild of America. He has collaborated with artists such as Willow Smith, Tyler Cole, Noname, Saba, Mereba, and many others across music, performance, and visual arts.
Philip Patrick Harper Bucknor is a graduate of the California Institute of the Arts.
