Biography
Composer, improviser, and saxophonist Travis Laplante has performed and/or recorded with Darius Jones, Yuniya Edi Kwon, Wendy Eisenberg, Caroline Shaw, Ches Smith, Peter Evans, Sō Percussion, Qasim Naqvi, Ingrid Laubrock, Dan Trueman, Mary Halvorson, the International Contemporary Ensemble, Nate Wooley, Tyondai Braxton, Tyshawn Sorey, Mat Maneri, Julia Bullock, Matt Mitchell, and Little Women, among others. He has released 17 albums as a composer, bandleader, or co-leader.
His compositions have been performed at numerous international festivals including the Moers Festival, Jazz Jantar, Saalfelden, Jazz em Agosto, Earshot, Hopscotch, and the NYC Winter JazzFest. He has recently composed works for ensembles and artists such as Battle Trance, the JACK Quartet, Yarn/Wire, the Attacca Quartet, Sō Percussion, Becca Stevens, the ~Nois Saxophone Quartet, Ji Hye Jung, the Greater Bridgeport Symphony, Erika Dohi, and Alarm Will Sound.
