Born in 1948, Thierry Leproust studied interior architecture, design, and sculpture at the École Boulle. Alongside his work as a visual artist, he has pursued a career as a scenographer and production designer in film since 1983.
In the field of dance, he has collaborated regularly with Angelin Preljocaj, for whom he created the sets for Amer America (1990), La Peau du monde (1992), L’Anoure, The Firebird (1995), Snow White (2008), The Rite of Spring at the Berlin State Opera (2001), as well as those for Le Parc (1994), Casanova (1998), and Le Songe de Médée (2004) at the Paris National Opera.
He has also worked with choreographers Nadine Hernu, Norma Claire, Patrick Salliot, and Blanca Li (Shéhérazade, Palais Garnier, 2001). In theatre, he has designed sets for Roger Planchon, Garance, Simone Amouyal, Marie Hermès, and Jacques Rosner. In opera, he has collaborated with Christian Gangneron, Philippe Godefroid, and Simone Amouyal.
In cinema, for many years he has designed the sets for Michel Deville’s films, as well as others for Roger Planchon, Roger Coggio, Marion Hänsel, and Eric Heumann. He regularly exhibits his work as a visual artist, and his works are held in various public and private collections.
