Biography

Trained at the Houston Grand Opera Studio, Peixin Chen has worked with numerous conductors and directors, including Harry Bicket, James Conlon, Gustavo Dudamel, James Gaffigan, Eun Sun Kim, Sebastian Lang-Lessing, Nicola Luisotti, Lorin Maazel, Enrique Mazzola, Zubin Mehta, Giancarlo del Monaco, Andrés Orozco-Estrada, Michel Plasson, David Pountney, James Robinson, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Peter Sellars, Patrick Summers, Francesca Zambello, and Jaap van Zweden.

He made his debuts at the Salzburg Festival in the role of the General (Der Spieler), at the Aix-en-Provence Festival as Joe (Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny), at the Teatro Real in Madrid as Sparafucile (Rigoletto), and at the Chicago Opera as the Monk (Don Carlos).

He regularly performs at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and the Houston Grand Opera, and in concert with the Houston Grand Opera Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic, and the San Diego Symphony. During the 2025–2026 season, he will perform as Sparafucile in San Francisco and Toronto and as Timur (Turandot) in New York and Atlanta.

Debut at the Paris Opera.
