Biography

Born in Louisiana, Payton Johnson began her dance training at the Jean Leigh Academy of Dance. She made her professional debut at the age of eight in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and later in The Radio City Christmas Spectacular.

She then trained at the Juilliard School, earning her BFA in Dance in 2021. She subsequently joined L.A. Dance Project under the direction of Benjamin Millepied, performing in Los Angeles, New York, and France. She was recently invited to perform at Gibney Dance in New York.

Payton Johnson works closely with Bobbi Jene Smith and Or Schraiber as both a director and performer. She has staged their works at the Juilliard School, Rambert Dance Company in London, and Oregon Ballet Theater, and has performed in their creations, including Seven Scenes at Little Island and Bobbi Jene Smith’s Broken Theatre in Denmark.
