Mikko Franck began his conducting career at the early age of seventeen and has worked with major orchestras and opera houses across the world. From 2002 to 2007 he was Music Director of the Belgian National Orchestra. He became General Music Director of Finnish National Opera in 2006, then held the dual position of Artistic and General Music Director 2007-2013.
As Music Director of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, 2015-2025, Mikko Franck was deeply committed to nurturing a creative and eclectic style of programming and led several tours of Europe and Asia. His considerable discography consists of symphonic and operatic repertoire. The most recent recordings include works by Franck, Debussy, Stravinsky, Shostakovich, and Strauss.
In 2018 Mikko Franck was nominated Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF France, and made field visits to Benin and Senegal. The Pro Finlandia Medal of the Order of the Lion of Finland was awarded to him in 2023 by the President of the Republic of Finland.
Debut at the Paris Opera.
