Biography

Born in Germany, Michael Pflumm studied at the University of Freiburg with Reginaldo Pinheiro and then with Barnhard Gärtner in Stuttgart. In recent seasons he has sung at La Scala Milan (Junger Diener in Elektra), at the Komische Oper in Berlin (Fatty in The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny), at the Freiburg Theatre (Jack and Toby Higgins in Mahagonny and Tchekalinski in The Queen of Spades), at the Bielefeld Theatre (Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus, Beppe in Pagliacci, the witch in Hänsel und Gretel, Jonathan in Saul and Bob Boles in Peter Grimes), at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf (Telemaco in Il Ritorno di Ulisse in patria, Aleia in From the House of the Dead and the Young man in Moses und Aron), at the Basle Theatre (Freddy in My Fair Lady) and at the Bremen Theatre (Arbace in Idomeneo)… During the 2014 / 2015 season, he performed Tony in West Side Story, Chester in Arizona Lady by Kalman, Monostatos in The Magic Flute, the Young man in Moses und Aron at the Komische Oper in Berlin, Freddy at the Staatstheater in Braunschweig, Andres in Wozzeck in Glasgow with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra conducted by Donald Runnicles. He has also performed in concert at the Konzerthaus (Kurt Weill’s Silbersee with Ivan Fischer) and at the Philharmonie in Berlin (Ariane by Martinů) with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester conducted by Tugan Sokhiev. He performs regularly with the Neue Vokalsolisten of Stuttgart as well as with ensembles such as the Klangforum Wien or the Bamberger Symphoniker.

This is his Paris Opera debut.
