Biography

Born in 1982 in Valencia, Marcos Morau trained in photography, movement/dance, and theater between Valencia, Barcelona, and New York.

Since 2004, he has directed the dance company La Veronal, which has presented its productions in theaters and festivals across more than thirty countries, including the Théâtre National de Chaillot in Paris, the Venice Biennale, the Avignon Festival, Tanz Im August in Berlin, Festival RomaEuropa, SIDance Festival in Seoul, Sadler's Wells in London, and Danse Danse Montréal, among others.

In 2013, he was awarded the Spanish National Dance Award by the Spanish Ministry of Culture.

In addition to his ongoing work with La Veronal, Marcos Morau is a guest artist in several companies and theaters worldwide, where he develops new creations that blend performing arts and dance. His collaborations include Nederlands Dans Theater, Ballet de l'Opéra de Lyon, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, the Royal Danish Ballet, and the Royal Ballet of Flanders, among others.

Since 2023, Marcos Morau has been an associate artist at Staatsballet Berlin, a company linked to the Deutsche Oper, Komische Oper, and Staatsoper Unter den Linden.

Named Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2023 by the French Ministry of Culture, he was also recognized as the Best Choreographer of the Year 2023 by the German magazine Tanz.
