Marco Berriel was a principal dancer with Maurice Béjart’s Ballet du XXe siècle, the Compañía Nacional de Danza, and the Lindsay Kemp Company. He has performed and presented his choreographies at venues including La Scala in Milan, New York City Center, the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg, Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Teatro Real in Madrid, La Monnaie in Brussels, the Vienna State Opera, the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, the Théâtre du Châtelet, and La Fenice in Venice.
In the world of opera, he has worked as a choreographer and staging collaborator with Robert Carsen, Yannis Kokkos, Willy Decker, Pier Luigi Pizzi, Herbert Wernicke, Nuria Espert, Hugo de Ana, Giancarlo Del Monaco, Peter Sellars, Laurent Pelly, Alex Ollé, and Deborah Warner. He has collaborated with conductors such as William Christie, Zubin Mehta, Marc Albrecht, Bruno Bartoletti, Riccardo Muti, Jesús López Cobos, Ivor Bolton, and Riccardo Chailly. He received the Ricard Moragas National Choreography Prize and won the Madrid Choreographic Competition.
Debut at the Paris Opera.
