Lucy Burge Choreographer

Biography

Lucy Burge was Principal Dancer at the Ballet Rambert from 1970 to 1985 and had the  opportunity to dance with Rudolf Nureyev. 

She has also made guest appearances with Britain’s major ballet companies. As a choreographer, she has collaborated with Richard Jones on several occasions: La Fanciulla del West (Santa Fe, English National Opera), Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg (English National Opera), Billy Budd (Frankfurt, Gothenburg, Amsterdam), The Makropulos Affair (Frankfurt), Ariodante (Toronto, Aix-en-Provence, Amsterdam), Les Contes d’'Hoffmann (English National Opera, Munich’s Bayerische Staatsoper), Lohengrin (Bayerische Staatsoper), Gloriana (Royal Opera House, Hamburg), L’ Heure espagnole and Gianni Schicchi (Royal Opera House). 

She also worked with Antony McDonald for Thomas Adès’ Powder Her Face (Lyric Theatre, Belfast), A Midsummer Night’ s Dream (Hyogo Arts, Japan), Ariadne auf Naxos (Scottish Opera and Opera Holland Park), Manon and the Ring Cycle (Nationale Reiseopera), Fiddler on the Roof, Rusalka and The Queen of Spades (Grange Park Opera), The Importance of Being Earnest (Northern Ireland Opera), and L’ Enfant et les sortilèges (Bolshoi Theatre). She has also teamed up with Daniel Kramer (Carmen at the Opera North and the Flanders Opera), Oliver Mears (Aida in Magdeburg, Germany), Sam Brown (My Fair Lady in Karlsruhe, La Favorite in Graz), Katharina Thoma (Ariadne auf Naxos in Glyndebourne) and Adele Thomas (L’ Oresteia at the Globe Theatre). 

In recent years, she has choreographed Parsifal at the Paris Opera, Alice’s Adventures Underground (Royal Opera House, Irish National Opera), Ariodante à Chicago et Valence, On the Town (Hyogo Arts, Japon).
