Leila Josefowicz Violin

Biography

Passionate about contemporary music, Leila Josefowicz has notably premiered concertos by Colin Matthews, Luca Francesconi, Matthias Pintscher, John Adams, and Esa-Pekka Salonen, all written especially for her. In recent seasons, she has performed with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Berlin, Oslo, London, and Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestras, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, and the London, Chicago, San Francisco, and Houston Symphony Orchestras. Last season was marked by the UK premiere of Helen Grime’s Violin Concerto with the BBC Symphony Orchestra.

During the 2025–2026 season, she performs Jüri Reinvere’s Concerto for Violin, Harp and Orchestra with the Cleveland Orchestra (world premiere), Karol Szymanowski’s Violin Concerto No. 2 with the New York Philharmonic, John Adams’s Scheherazade.2 with the Hallé Orchestra, and Oliver Knussen’s Violin Concerto with the Munich Philharmonic.

She also performs with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Minnesota Orchestra.

Debut at the Paris Opera.
