Biography

Originally from Sugarland, Texas, Kevin Punnackal recently performed the role of the Captain in Lord of the Cries at the Santa Fe Opera. During his studies at Houston Baptist University, he had the opportunity to perform roles such as Ruggero in Puccini's La Rondine and Roméo in Gounod's Roméo et Juliette.

He recently completed his Master's degree at the University of Oklahoma, where he played Baron de Pictordu in Cinderella and Nemorino in Donizetti's L'Elisir d'amore. Kevin Punnackal plays Sam Kaplan in Kurt Weill's Street Scene at the International Academy of Music in Varna, Bulgaria. During the 2021-22 season at the Washington National Opera (WNO), Kevin Punnackal takes part in the premiere of a Metropolitan Opera and WNO commission to composer Jeanine Tesori, Blue, on a libretto by George Brant.

Kevin Punnackal joins the Académie de l'Opéra national de Paris in September 2023, performing the role of Sam Kaplan in Street SceneS directed by Yshani Perinpanayagam and staged by Ted Huffman at the MC93-Maison de la Culture de Seine-Saint-Denis.
