Biography

Julie Davies has performed with a number of internationally renowned opera companies and orchestras. She has won numerous competitions including the Metropolitan Opera Auditions, Naftzger Young Artists Competition and the Jensen Foundation Competition. She was also a finalist in the Marilyn Horne Foundation Competition. She has taken part in master classes with Marilyn Horne, Martina Arroyo, Frederica von Stade and Hoerst Guenter. She has performed the four soprano roles in Tales of Hoffmann, Nedda in I Pagliacci, Norina in Don Pasquale and Gerhilde in Die Walküre at the Darmstadt Staatstheater. Her repertoire also includes the title roles in Lucia di Lammermoor and La Somnambule, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, First Lady in Magic Flute, Cleopatra in Giulio Cesare, Corinna in Voyage à Reims, Dido in Dido and Aeneas, Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro, the Mother in Hänsel und Gretel and Rita Billingsley in A Wedding. Concert performances include Verdi’s Requiem, Gloria, Pulcinella, the Nelson Mass, Jeremiah, Elijah and Mendelssohn’s Psalm 115, Handel’s Messiah, the Fauré Requiem, the Vespers of a Confessor, the Mozart Requiem and Beethoven’s Choral Fantasia. During the 2013-2014 season, Julie Davies made her debut in the title role of La Traviata in Darmstadt and sang the Countess in Marriage of Figaro and Desdemona in Otello. She made her debut in the role of Marzelline in Fidelio in 2015.

Her first solo album will be recorded this winter.
