Julia Bullock has been artist in residence at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, Cal Performances in Berkeley, and the San Francisco Symphony. She has performed in Antony and Cleopatra and El Niño at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, and has created roles in Fire Shut Up in My Bones, Upload, and Girls of the Golden West.
She has also appeared in concert with various orchestras, as a soloist with the American Modern Opera Company, and in recital at Carnegie Hall, the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Kennedy Center, and Wigmore Hall in London. She has developed projects including History’s Persistent Voice, El Niño: Nativity Reconsidered, and Perle noire: Meditations for Joséphine.
Last season, she premiered Song of the Reappeared by Matthew Aucoin with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and performed a Gershwin/Bonds program with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, and the Auckland Philharmonia. She also revived two of her signature projects at the Adelaide Festival and served as curator of the Cincinnati May Festival.
