Biography

After her baccalaureat in 2010, Joanne Haennel studied History of Art and English at the University of Strasbourg. At the same time, she decided to train in dressmaking with a CAP in 2012. She completed her training in 2015 with a Métiers d’Art diploma in Costume Design in Lyon. Various internships allowed her to discover the world of museums whilst also frequenting that of the performing arts. She developed an interest in costume design when assisting with costume making for both university and professional theatre productions (costume designer for the company Trauma d’ère on Edward Bond’s Les Enfants; interne on David Bobée’s new production of Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress at the Caen Theatre and Chimène ou le Cid by Corneille with ARCAL amongst others) as well as for film productions. In May 2016, she was an intern at the Paris Opera's dressmaking workshop and will begin a period of residence at the Paris Opera Academy in September 2017.
