Biography

Jeanne Bonnet was born into a family of musicians. She discovered the double bass at an early age after seeing a concert given by Jean-Loup Dehant who would later become her teacher. At the age of fifteen, after winning the Prize at the Douai Conservatory, she entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris, in the class of Thierry Barbé and Jean-Edmond Bacquet. She won numerous competitions including the Petites Mains Symphoniques, the mini Bass’2007 and Bass’2008 in Paris, the Bass’2010 in Berlin, the French Youth Orchestra Competition and, in 2015, the Boulogne-Billancourt Contemporary Music Performance Competition. Those competitions, together with her entry into the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra Academy and the Paris Orchestra Academy allowed her to acquire considerable experience both as a soloist and in an orchestra, giving her the opportunity to perform in prestigious theatres like the Théâtre Déjazet, the Salle Gaveau, the Salle Pleyel, the Palais des Congrès, the Théâtre des Champs Élysées, the Théâtre du Châtelet and the Philharmonie de Paris. During the 2016 / 2017 season, she continues to work towards her Masters at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris and she is also in residence at the Paris Opera Academy.
