Biography

Jay Gower Taylor started his career as a professional dancer and performed all around the world during more than twenty years. Parallel to his dance career, Jay developed skills as a stage designer. He first started as a designer in the theatre world with Serge Bennathan for Absences, The Invisible Life of Joseph Finch, Conversation and Elles. He also created the set designs for a live-cinematic interpretation of Sartre’s No Exit with the companies The Virtual Stage and Electric Company Theatre. As set designer, he worked with Crystal Pite for Plot Point, Frontier, Solo Echo, Parade, In the Event and The Statement, ballets created at the Nederlands Dans Theater, Emergence at the National Ballet of Canada, Polaris at the London Sadler’s Wells, and Dark Matters, The Tempest Replica and Betroffenheit for Kidd Pivot.
