Biography

Jamie xx is an English composer, musician and remixer, and one of the members of the band The xx. The band was formed in 2005 in London and released their first album, xx, four years later. The album reached number three on the UK Albums Chart and won the Mercury Music Prize. In 2011 the band composed We’re New Here, a remix song by Jamie xx from the album I’m New Here by Gil Scott-Heron. Coexist, their second album, was released in 2012 and ranked number one in the United-Kingdom and number five on the list of the most popular music albums in the United-Sates.
In 2013 The xx took part in the Manchester International Festival and launched The xx in Residence, a series of eighteen concerts located in usual places in the city, locations with limited capacity of around sixty people. The project was then adapted and presented in Park Avenue Armory with 25 concerts. The same year, the band held their own festival, Night + Day, produced in Lisbon, London and Berlin.
Jamie xx continues is career as member of The xx, solo artist, but also as producer and remixer for artists like Florence+ The Machine, Drake, Adele and Alicia Keys. In June 2015, after a few singles published under his name, Jamie xx released his own solo album In Colour, and was nominated at the BRIT Awards in 2015 and the Grammy Awards in 2016. In January 2017, The xx published their third album I See you, co-produced by Jamie xx and Rodaih McDonald.
