Jakub Lech is a lighting and multimedia engineer. He explores the field of new interactive and immersive technologies focused on the relationships between image, sound, and space.
From 1998 to 2003, he studied at the Faculty of Graphic Arts of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław. A co-founder and member of the artistic collective [IP] Identity Problem Group, and co-founder of Studio IP, he is also a draughtsman and the creator of animations, short films, visualizations, and multimedia installations for dozens of theatre productions, concerts, and exhibitions.
Jakub Lech has collaborated with numerous theatre directors in Poland, producing video projections and designing multimedia set elements. He worked with Krystian Lupa on productions such as Mo Fei at the Grand Theatre in Tianjin (China, 2017) and A Madman’s Diary at the Guangzhou Opera House (China, 2022).
For many years he has collaborated with Łukasz Twarkowski, creating multimedia projections for productions such as Lokis at the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre in Vilnius (Lithuania, 2017), Rothko at the Dailes Theatre in Riga (Latvia, 2022), Quanta at the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre in Vilnius (Lithuania, 2024), The Employees at Studio Theatre in Warsaw (Poland, 2023), and Oracle at the Dailes Theatre in Riga (Latvia, 2025).
Among the collective projects of the IP group are: Transformaas, presented at the 18th New Horizons International Film Festival (2018); Kontr-akt, presented at the 18th WRO Media Art Biennale (2019); Lumen, presented at the 20th New Horizons International Film Festival (2020); Discharge, at the Polish Pavilion of the Gwangju Biennale (Korea, 2024); and Betwin, presented at New Horizons IFF26 (Poland, 2025).
