Raised in Stillwater, Minnesota, Jack Swanson has twice received the Richard Tucker Memorial Award from the Santa Fe Opera. He was a finalist in the Eleanor McCollum Competition at the Houston Grand Opera and won the grand prize in the Young Patron Competition of the Florida Grand Opera.
Throughout his career, he has performed roles including Don Ramiro (La Cenerentola), Ernesto (Don Pasquale), Fenton (Falstaff), Tonio (La Fille du régiment), Tamino (The Magic Flute), Belfiore (Le Voyage à Reims), Nemorino (L’Elixir d’amour), Count Almaviva (The Barber of Seville), and the title role in Le Comte Ory. He has appeared at institutions such as the Vienna State Opera, Hamburg State Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Teatro Regio in Turin, Cologne Opera, Atlanta Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Opéra national de Lorraine, Opéra national du Rhin, Frankfurt Opera, Santa Fe Opera, and at festivals including the Rossini Festival in Pesaro, Napa Valley Festival, Glyndebourne Festival, and the Verona Festival. He recently made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York as Count Almaviva.
