François Roussillon is a producer, director, documentary filmmaker, music journalist, and presenter. In 1988, he founded his production company, François Roussillon et Associés, dedicated to developing music programs. From 1993 to 2000, he hosted the classical music, opera, and dance programming on the Paris-Première channel.
In 1997, he participated in the launch of the Muzzik channel by creating Le Journal de Muzzik. The following year, he developed the documentary series Rêves d’étoiles in collaboration with Brigitte Lefèvre. In March 2000, he directed the first live broadcast from the Paris Opera on the Mezzo channel with War and Peace.
The DVD edition received the Grand Prix of the Académie Charles Cros, which also honored his filmed recordings of Roland Petit’s ballet Clavigo (Paris Opera, 2004), Les Paladins (Théâtre du Châtelet, 2005), and La Grande duchesse de Gérolstein (Théâtre du Châtelet, 2006). His collaboration with Robert Carsen produced the filmed recordings of The Tales of Hoffmann (2003) and Capriccio (2004) at the Paris Opera.
In 2009, he created FRA Musica, a video label. At the Paris Opera, he filmed ballets including Don Quixote (2002), Shazam (2002), La Sylphide (2004), Swan Lake (2005), Giselle (2006), The Nutcracker (2007), Raymonda (2008), Les Ballets Russes (2009), and Les Enfants du paradis and La Source (2011).
