Philippos Rizopoulos was born in Greece. In 1989, he obtained his diploma in accordion studies. He also studied piano at the National Conservatory of Athens, in the class of Marina Lambrinoudi, and in 1993 obtained his higher diploma with the congratulations of the jury.
He then worked as an accompanist pianist and as a vocal and instrumental coach at the National Conservatory of Athens and at the instrumental department of the Nakas Music Academy in Greece. At the same time, he accompanied the national contemporary music competitions in Athens. From 1993 onwards, he performed as a concert pianist and accompanied vocal recitals in Greece, France, Germany, England, Belgium and Hungary.
In 1998, he joined the Centre de Formation Lyrique of the Paris Opera for a three-year course as a répétiteur. He subsequently worked on numerous productions at the Paris Opera, the Chorégies d’Orange and various festivals throughout France. He accompanied masterclasses led by internationally renowned coaches such as Janine Reiss, Robert Kettelson and Joan Dornemann, as well as singers including Carol Vaness, Dolora Zajick, Jennifer Larmore, Frederica von Stade, Christa Ludwig, Alain Vanzo and Michel Sénéchal. He also worked as an accompanist pianist for competitions and auditions, including the Ravinia Festival, the Neue Stimmen Competition, the Belvedere Competition, the Cardiff Singer of the World Competition and the CFPL.
In 2001, he joined the Paris Opera Chorus as an additional répétiteur. He was appointed to the Paris Opera following a competitive examination in 2007 and was named a permanent répétiteur that same year.
