Polish-American soprano Ewa Płonka has received numerous international awards for her vocal and piano performances. She graduated from the Poznań Academy of Music in piano performance, from Oklahoma City University for a second master's degree in piano and from the University of Utah for a doctorate, also in piano. In addition, she received her Artist Diploma in Lyric Studies from the Juilliard School in New York in 2016.
She performs on the major international opera stages, including London's Royal Opera House, Madrid's Teatro Real, Berlin's Deutsche Oper, Zurich's Opernhaus, Washington Opera, Munich's Bayerische Staatsoper.
In recent seasons, she has performed the title roles in Turandot, Tosca and Aida, and the roles of Lady Macbeth (Macbeth), Abigaille (Nabucco), the Foreign Princess (Rusalka) and Venus (Tannhäuser). Other highlights include Azucena (Le Trouvère) and Giovanna Seymour (Anna Bolena). In the 2025-2026 season, she will appear as Turandot at La Scala in Milan, Abigaille at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Elisabetta (Don Carlo) at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin, and Tosca at the Staatsoper in Hamburg.
