Elizabeth DeShong has performed at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, San Francisco Opera, Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, Los Angeles Opera, Canadian Opera Company in Toronto, Royal Opera House in London, Vienna Staatsoper, La Scala in Milan, Bordeaux National Opera, Glyndebourne Festival, and Aix-en-Provence Festival. In recent seasons, she has made her debut in numerous roles, including Octavia (Antony and Cleopatra by John Adams) in San Francisco, Fricka (Das Rheingold) in Atlanta, Azucena (Il Trovatore) in Stuttgart, and Medoro (Orlando) at Théâtre du Châtelet.
She has also performed Bradamante (Alcina), Suzuki (Madama Butterfly), Paulina (The Queen of Spades), Adalgisa (Norma), Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel), Maffia Orsini (Lucrezia Borgia), Marilyn Klinghoffer (The Death of Klinghoffer), Fenena (Nabucco), Sesto (La clemenza di Tito), Arsace (Semiramide), Fidès (Le Prophète), and Hermia (A Midsummer Night’s Dream). Her recording of Handel’s Messiah with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra under Sir Andrew Davis (Chandos) was nominated for two Grammy Awards in 2018.
