Elizabeth Cannon began her career as an illustrator. Her early works were published by Pantheon and exhibited at the Gotham Book Mart. Designing costumes for a film and a stay in Paris led her toward fashion design. She aims to create clothing that, while easy to wear, seems to emerge from memory.
Her creations have been exhibited in various New York galleries and featured in WWD, Mademoiselle, Elle, Details, Frieze, Time Out, New York Magazine, ID Magazine, and Andy Warhol’s television show.
Her designs have been worn at the Kennedy Center Awards, the Emmys, and the Grammys. She has created costumes for film, dance, and performance, and regularly works for a private clientele. Over the past 20 years, Elizabeth Cannon has collaborated with numerous artists and runs an active studio under the name École Martine, producing hand-painted fabrics and custom-made creations.
