Graduated from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Elena Villalón began her career as a Gerdine Young Artist at the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis. She was a finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in 2019, received the Sara Tucker Grant in 2022, and the Richard F. Gold Grant from Houston Grand Opera.
She has also won four prizes at the Hans Gabor Belvedere Competition. Her previous engagements include the roles of Amore (Orfeo ed Euridice) and Nuria (Ainadamar) at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Sheila in the world premiere of The Righteous by Gregory Spears at Santa Fe Opera, Gretel (Hansel and Gretel) and Tina (Flight) at Dallas Opera, Pamina (The Magic Flute), Iole (Hercules), Atalanta (Xerxes), Frasquita (Carmen), and Susanna (The Marriage of Figaro) at Frankfurt Opera, and Susanna at Austin Opera and Houston Grand Opera.
In the 2025-2026 season, she makes her debuts in the roles of Dalinda (Ariodante) at the Royal Ballet and Opera, Glauce (Medea) at Lyric Opera of Chicago, Pamina (The Magic Flute) at Opéra national de Bordeaux, and Fiorilla (Il Turco in Italia) at the Glyndebourne Festival.
Debuts at the Paris National Opera.
