Artist in residence at the Academy since September 2024
Originally from Ukraine, Daria Akulova studied voice and piano at the Tchaikovsky National Academy of Music of Ukraine in Kyiv before joining the Opera Studio of the Bern University of the Arts.
Daria Akulova joined the Paris Opera Academy in September 2024. She performed the role of “una donna” in Netia Jones’s production of Le nozze di Figaro at the Palais Garnier and portrayed Arminda in the new production of La finta giardiniera, directed by Julie Delille, at the MC93 – Maison de la Culture de Seine-Saint-Denis.
She has performed in concert at the Palais Garnier with the Orchestra of the Paris Opera under the direction of Patrick Lange (Bizet and His Contemporaries, 2025) and Stephanie Childress (Night and Love, 2026). In 2025, she took part in an exchange with the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program in New York and in the Academy’s tour of Brazil (Theatro Municipal de São Paulo, Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro and Teatro Guaíra in Curitiba).
Her repertoire includes, among others, the roles of Marfa (The Tsar’s Bride), Amour (Orphée et Eurydice), Annina (La traviata) and Brigitta (Iolanta).
Daria Akulova is a recipient of the Ukrainian Presidential Scholarship for Young Artists in Music (2022), First Prize at the International Lugano Music Competition (2022), and a scholarship from the Lyra Foundation (2023). In 2025, she was a semi-finalist in the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Competition, where she won an engagement with Wexford Festival Opera for the 2026/2027 season.
