Daniele Gatti graduated as a composer and conductor from the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan. He is Music Director of the Orchestra Mozart, Artistic Advisor to the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and Principal Conductor of the Teatro del Maggio Musicale in Florence. From September 2024, he will be Principal Conductor of the Sächsische Staatskapelle in Dresden. He was formerly Music Director of Rome's Teatro dell'Opera, and has previously held prestigious positions with such musical institutions as the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre national de France, London's Royal Opera House, Bologna's Teatro Comunale, Zurich's Opernhaus and Amsterdam's Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
The Berliner Philharmoniker, the Wiener Philharmoniker, the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks and the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala are just some of the symphonic institutions he works with. Among the many productions he has conducted are Falstaff directed by Robert Carsen in London, Milan and Amsterdam; Parsifal directed by Stefan Herheim to open the Bayreuth Festival in 2008; Parsifal directed by François Girard at the Metropolitan Opera in New York; Elektra, La Bohème, Les Maîtres chanteurs de Nuremberg and Le Trouvère at the Salzburg Festival. In summer 2025, he will return to the Bayreuth Festival for a new production of Les Maîtres chanteurs de Nuremberg.
Daniele Gatti a reçu le prix Franco Abbiati en tant que meilleur chef d'orchestre en 2015. En 2016, il a été nommé Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur de la République française pour son travail en tant que directeur musical de l'Orchestre national de France. Il est également Grand Officier du Mérite de la République italienne. Il a enregistré pour les labels Sony Classical, RCO Live et C Major.
